Tidung Island is the largest of the Thousand Islands just off the coast of Ancol, Jakarta. You can get a boat from Ancol to Tidung Island but the cost is around 300k IDR.
If you get the boat from the other port called Kale Adem, it only costs 80k IDR and only takes 1hr to get there. You cannot book the tickets from Kale Adem so it’s first come first serve so make sure you get there early.
From Kale Adem there’s around 3 boats per day going to the island and coming back. The times; I’m unsure of but it’s easy enough to check on google as it changes from time to time.
This is also the only one of the Thousand Islands that has a hospital and police station should anything happen on your trip.
Tidung island has a mixture of home stays, backpacker floating wooden budget hotels named Tidung Lagoon, and it also has very nice accommodation from the same people that run tidung lagoon. Just ask them when you contact them, I’ve included the link and number below and just ask for Lauren.
This one is the fancy, brand new air conditioned accommodation on the island:- http://tidung.id/
This one is the older budget/backpacker type style but still very beautiful and a great location: - https://tidunglagoon.com/
There are little bajai vehicles and ojeks on the island to take you around if you want them.
Tidung island is a level 1 which means everyone can come here and enjoy themselves without any arduous physical effort haha.
Tidung Island can 100% be done on your own without the need for any guide at all
Phone Signal - Yes!
You can get from one end of the island to the complete opposite in about 1hr by walking, or 15 minutes on a gojek.
300K if you get the boat from Ancol, and around 80K if you get the boat from Kale Adem Port.
Sometimes the island gets closed down if the seas are strong or the weather is too bad so just do a quick check online before you go.
Tidung island is a great island and it’s handy because it’s only an hour away from the city. The waters there are crystal clear and perfect from snorkeling and getting away for some fresh air.
