Weekend Trips

Gunung Putri

From Central Jakarta (Kuningan) to Gunung Putri Car Park = 2 to 3 hours in normal traffic conditions.

Gunung Putri in Bandung is a great little mountain to climb on a weekend, it only takes about 30 minutes to get to the top including carrying kit.

Perfect place at the top to pitch a tent, or hammock and flysheet. If you wake up early enough in the morning, you can drink your coffee while sitting at the top of the mountain looking down at the blanket of clouds below you.

Highly recommended for beginners and people who aren't very fit but would like to do a mountain, this is perfect for you. The Trees are mostly big open spaced pine trees and amazing to walk through.

They have small warungs at the bottom of the mountain selling tea, coffee, pop mie, cigarettes and so on.

In all honesty I can’t remember if there’s a fee to go up this mountain as I was invited to an outdoor event and the company took care of everything, but if there is, it’ll be tiny, like 25k to 50k type thing.

From Central Jakarta (Kuningan) to Gunung Putri Car Park = 2 to 3 hours in normal traffic conditions.

You can definitely take your own car here with ample parking space.

Gunung Putri is definitely a level 1, which means pretty much everyone and anyone can do this and enjoy it.

Gunung Putri can 100% be done on your own without the need for any guide at all, not even a map or compass is required here.

I think Gunung Putri will be open most of the year but bare in mind it’s in Bandung so please check about any flooding or landslides during the wet season before you go, and make sure it’s open.

Summary

Gunung Putri is a great wee mountain that pretty much anyone can enjoy and get away from the city. During the dry season it gets pretty packed with young teenagers but they’re all great, very welcoming and offering you coffee with them and so on.

Have a great time and don’t forget to set your alarm clock to get up for around 4:30am to see the sunrise and watch the clouds from above.
